November 2 - The Netherlands-based United Offshore Services (UOS) has added Samson Saturn-12 and chafe products to its inventory, enabling it to offer synthetic tug mainlines and pendants.

A distributor for Samson since 2014, UOS supports the use of high-modulus polyethylene (HMPE) ropes in multiple applications.

According to Edwin Jefferies, commercial manager for UOS: "Synthetic ropes fill a special need in the market that can't be met with steel-wire rope. Bringing a technology-leading product like Samson's Saturn-12 into our inventory allows us to compete in a sector new to us - tug mainlines and pendants.

"Samson is known for its fibre technology and development, which complements how we approach the market. We have supplied indirectly into the tug market over the last 24 years and it's now time to take a direct approach."

In addition to expanding its presence in the region, Samson has also appointed Mike Burghoorn as regional sales manager - Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

According to Samson, its focus has been to expand its capabilities in Europe, particularly in areas like Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium through its partnership with UOS.
