Fesco completes Antarctic deliveries

Fesco Transportation Group has delivered cargo for three research stations in the Antarctic using its vessel Vasily Golovnin.

1,382 tons (1,253.7 tonnes) of cargo including equipment, fuel and food, was delivered to the Indian stations Bharati and Maitri, as well as the Belgian station Princess Elisabeth. The expedition lasted three and a half months, with the ship returning to the port of Cape Town in South Africa on April 10.

The contract between Fesco and the Indian research and development institution National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) was signed during October 2018 and covers the supply of cargoes for Antarctic stations.

Vasily Golovnin is certified for polar navigation by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. In addition, Fesco received special permission from Russia’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology.
