AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC) has reported a 13 percent upsurge in total cargo carried in 2017, delivering more than 700,000 tonnes throughout its international network.

The Russian airline also reported a 10 percent growth rate in freight tonne kilometres (FTK).

Citing the realisation of its fleet expansion strategy, the development of solutions for special cargoes and the introduction of new destinations as the reasons behind the growth, ABC says it witnessed business improvements in all major markets.

"In 2017 we concentrated our efforts on the development of special cargo transportation, fine-tuning our internal procedures and processes, aligning our organisation structure and going on the path of digitalisation, steps which boosted our volumes of special commodities, with temperature pharmaceuticals heading the list (up 150 percent), followed by off-size and heavy (up 33 percent), and e-commerce (up 26 percent)," explained Sergey Lazarev, general director of ABC.

ABC says its main focus for 2018 will be enhancing its special cargo solutions, not only providing a wide range of products but also offering digital solutions to make the process of airfreight delivery as transparent and easy as possible.
