July 10 - Following its recent acquisition, Crane Rental Corporation and new owner, Maxim Crane Works, have got to work on an impressive job to move a 136-tonne bullet tank in the northeast USA.
Maxim's 100-tonne capacity Link-Belt HTC86100 hydraulic truck crane was used to assemble Crane Rental's 700-tonne capacity gantries, which helped lift the 27.4 m x 3.9 m x 3.5 m tank onto 15 axle lines of Goldhofer modular trailers inside a building.
The heavy load was then transported out of the building and down the road, before reaching a tunnel with only 3.8 cm of clearance. Having successfully squeezed through the gap, the gantries were reassembled once again to lift the tank from the modular trailers onto a railcar for onward transport.
On arrival at the desired location, Maxim's crane assembled Crane Rental's gantries once more and lifted the tank from its railcar onto the Goldhofer trailer for delivery to its final destination. The gantries were used for a fourth and final time to offload the tank at the site.
"This is the type of turnkey service we will continue to provide nationwide as a team at Maxim," said Alan Ashlock, president of the southeast region for Maxim, and previous president of Crane Rental.
HLPFI reported on May 26 that Maxim Crane Works had acquired Crane Rental Corporation.
