February 11 - Once again, Seaports of Niedersachsen used the European Wind Energy Association's (EWEA) conference, held last week in Vienna, to present the capabilities of its ports to deliver logistics solutions for the wind energy sector.
Representatives of the various ports and terminals within the Seaports of Niedersachsen, including Brake, Cuxhaven, Emden and Nordenham, say that the event gave them a great opportunity to promote their locational advantages and attract new customers.
EWEA covers both the supply of onshore and offshore wind energy and, says the port group, provides ideal opportunities to market the facilities in the Lower Saxon seaports which were early developers of logistics services for the wind energy business.
As well as standard port handling and harbour storage operations, Seaports of Niedersachsen says that several of its members are able to deliver complex logistics processes, including activities that add value to the basic product, as well as overall management of the wind energy supply chain.
"Logistics is a decisive element of the wind energy industry. Here you need a reliable partner with experience in the handling of sensitive components of a wind turbine, and of course, effective processes that keep costs down," said Andreas Bullwinkel, managing director of the Seaports of Niedersachsen GmbH.
