September 21 - The 18,330 dwt crane ship, Wei-Li, has left Damen Shiprepair Dunkerque for Rotterdam, after ten days of maintenance and repairs.

The vessel, which has a 3,000-tonne lifting capacity, required 225 blocks and 56 steel pillars in order to support the stern in its special repair dock. Wooden wedges also had to be added to the lateral blocks to take account of the unusual hull shape and to ensure complete stability in the drydock, said Damen.

The scope of the repair yard's work included blasting and painting the hull, overhauling the internal and overboard valves and rebuilding the starboard propeller blades.

Wei-Li, which was built by Zhenhua Heavy Industries in 2010, was involved in the installation of the 11,000-tonne jacket for the Ivar Aasen project in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea this summer.
