Barge takes to the road

August 11 - Van der Vlist has transported an 18-tonne barge by road from Zaandam in the Netherlands to its premises in Exmouth, UK.

The barge, which has the dimensions 18 m x 4.25 m x 1.6 m, was collected from a depot in Zaandam and transported to the Hook of Holland, before being shipped to the port of Harwich.

Private escorts then assisted the road transport across England. On arrival at its destination, the barge was unloaded by crane and will be moved to the shore, where it can be floated at high tide.

Van der Vlist performed this delivery for watersports company Exe Wake, which intends to use the barge as a central floating platform for its activities.
