ABS appoints Watson president and coo Americas

July 10 - Maritime classification society the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) has said that James A. Watson, director of the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), will join ABS as president and coo of the Americas division, effective Se

Watson succeeds Robert Gilman, who will move to the ABS Group (ABSG) of Companies as senior vp and head of technical inspection service within ABSG Consulting.
 
As director of BSEE, Watson has been responsible for promoting safety, protecting the environment and resource conservation, through regulatory oversight and enforcement of offshore operations, on the US Outer Continental Shelf.
 
Watson will be based at the ABS America headquarters in Houston, Texas.
