Besides adding close to 50 full-time stevedoring jobs at the port, hundreds of additional employment opportunities will also be established, says Port Freeport.

"This new service will translate into exceptional employment opportunities for the citizens of Brazoria County, and is consistent with Port Freeport's mandate to create regional economic impact," said Port Commission chairman, John Hoss.

Hoss added that Höegh's extensive network of services will allow Port Freeport to have access to major trade lanes on a worldwide basis.

This is the second ocean carrier to commit to Port Freeport in the last six months, with the signing of container line MSC in October 2014.
