Rhenus Midgard has acquired a Liebherr LHM 420 mobile harbour crane for its operation at the Dradenau terminal in the port of Hamburg.

The machine will replace a Liebherr LHM 320 unit that has been in operation since 1999. Rhenus Project Logistics coordinated the transport from Rostock using the open deck carrier Aura. It was transported in a fully assembled condition meaning it was ready for operation shortly after arrival.

With a lifting capacity of 124 tonnes and a 48 m-long boom, it will be used to handle breakbulk and containers at the terminal.

The Liebherr crane also features state-of-the-art engine and exhaust technology that offers the opportunity to further reduce emissions in the port of Hamburg.
