Italy-headquartered Gruber Logistics has moved the fuselage and other components of a decommissioned Airbus A310 through a German nature reserve, with the aircraft to serve as a restaurant at the Serengeti Park wildlife and leisure park in Hodenhagen.

The wings of the A310 have been at Serengeti Park since autumn 2023. The aircraft’s fuselage and other components weighed a combined 110 tonnes and measured 64.4 m x 6.1 m x 5.9 m.

As part of a 51.4-km route from Hanover Airport to Serengeti Park, trees within the nature reserve were secured prior to the project move to prevent damage to branches. Local firm StB Verkehrstechnik handled tasks such as dismantling traffic signs, lights and signals, while Gruber Logistics deployed a custom-built modular axle trailing combination which involved two 8x4 tractors.
