During December, Chung Yang Shipping’s heavy transport vessel Interocean I called at the port of Eemshaven for grillage removal in preparation for the transportation of monopiles to Taiwan.

Once the grillage has been removed, the vessel will be mobilised to the port of Nordenham in Germany to load the four monopiles.

Interocean I and its sistership Interocean II are commercially operated by the Netherlands-headquartered BigLift Shipping. The two companies agreed to combine their heavy transport capabilities in March 2019, resulting in a fleet of four ships, including BigLift Barentsz and BigLift Baffin.

While the vessels are similar in design, BigLift Shipping said the CY ships have a shallower draught, which enables the combined to fleet to cater for a wider range of port locations where water depths and quay heights are restricted.
