The cargoes – four splitters weighing 1,765 tonnes in total – were shipped from the manufacturer’s site in Vizag and transported to Kolkata Diamond Harbour onboard Jumbo’s heavy lift vessel Jumbo Kinetic.

Totalling 14,000 freight tons, and with unit dimensions of 70 m x 8.6 m x 9 m, ISS Global Forwarding handled the inland transport from the manufacturing yard to the port of loading using its own hydraulic trailer and SPMTs, powered by two power pack units (PPUs).

The company’s scope also included extensive onsite preparations and civil works at the yard and the jetty to facilitate the transport and loading onto Jumbo Kinetic, which deployed its two 1,500-tonne capacity cranes in tandem for the operation.

The vessel then transported the splitters from Vizag to Kolkata. Despite the size of the vessel, it “was ideally suited to navigate the shallow draft conditions in Vizag”, said Jumbo, which added: “Arriving at Kolkata Diamond Harbour, the splitters were efficiently discharged onto barges – a complex mid-river operation requiring precision and technical expertise.”
