Barge Master has developed the BM-Feeder – a motion compensated platform for feedering wind turbine components.

The BM-Feeder is based on Barge Master’s existing BM-T700 systems. The motion compensated platform, with adjustable payload capacity, is designed for feedering the next generation of wind turbines, the company said.

The BM-Feeder can be placed on an offshore vessel or barge and ensures that the components are kept completely stable for hook on and lift off by the installation jack-up. After lift off it decreases the risk of re-impact by eliminating the swing and heave motion of the components, Barge Master said.

It can be mobilised on a US-flagged vessel or sea-going barge and is able to load components at a port in the USA and sail out, making it Jones Act compliant.
