Overall, DEME will be responsible for laying over 350 km of cables on the seabed.

Its DP3 cable installation vessel, Living Stone, will be utilised for the operation, while a second vessel, Viking Neptun, will join in the first quarter of 2023.

The contract was awarded by Empire Offshore Wind - a joint venture between Equinor and bp.

Sid Florey, DEME Offshore US president, said: “We are very proud Equinor has awarded DEME Offshore US these two exceptional projects. DEME’s excellent track record and ability to successfully execute large-scale cable projects safely and efficiently, combined with our robust technical solution for the Empire Wind projects, are the key factors for our success with the award of this contract.”
