Huisman has been awarded a contract for the upgrade of the offshore mast crane onboard Heerema’s deepwater construction vessel Aegir.
The upgrade will enhance the second main hoist capacity from 2,000 tonnes to 3,200 tonnes at a height of 110 m, making the crane suitable for the installation of large jacket foundations.
The upgraded crane will feature a fixed jib section and a robust 3,200-tonne lower block and hook, providing Heerema with the advanced lifting capabilities, said Husiman.
Aegir vessel was originally equipped with a 4,000-tonne offshore mast crane by Huisman in 2013. In 2020, Huisman upgraded the lifting capacity of the main hoist to 5,000 tonnes.
