The Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) will issue tenders to develop and operate multipurpose terminals at eight Saudi Arabian ports.

The opportunities have been launched through the supervisory committee for privatisation in the transportation sector, the Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services (MOTLS) and the National Center for Privatization & PPP (NCP).

The initiative, according to MAWANI, will involve the private sector and contribute to the Saudi Arabia’s economic growth, developing local services in the ports sector, and raising the competitiveness of Saudi ports regionally and globally.

Under a build-operate-transfer (BOT) structure, the terminals on offer are located at Jeddah Islamic port, King Abdulaziz port in Dammam, Ras Al-Khair port, Jizan port, Yanbu commercial port, King Fahad industrial port in Jubail, King Fahad industrial port in Yanbu, and Jubail commercial port.

MAWANI aims to equip the ports to serve containers, general cargo, bulk cargo, ro-ro cargo, passengers, and livestock.
