Damco recruits specialist to expand global mining footprint

November 9 - Damco has appointed Ivan Thuynsma as global head for its mining division to be responsible for the global development of customers in and around the mining industry.

The company says is has seen an increased interest in its products and services around the mining vertical - particularly in growth markets like Africa.

Prior to joining Damco, Thuynsma worked for UTi for 10 years, seven of which were as part of its Mining and Projects vertical, leading the Africa and Middle East Mining and Project vertical for the last 18 Months. He comes with experience in all facets of the mining supply chain from greenfield projects to operational replenishment, and the shipping of finished products such as copper cathodes.
