August 19 - Governor of Washington, Jay Inslee, has appointed the ceo of the Port of Longview, Geir-Eilif Kalhagen, to the Washington State Freight Mobility Strategic Investment Board (FMSIB).

Kalhagen, who replaces FMSIB member and former executive director of the Port of Vancouver, Larry Paulson, will serve as FMSIB's port districts representative until June 30, 2018.

FMSIB's role is to create a state programme to promote freight movement among local, national and international markets to boost trade opportunities. The 12-member board is tasked with finding solutions to reduce the impact of freight movements on local communities.
