April 6 - Rickmers-Line GmbH, a company within the Bremen-based Zeaborn Group, has completed the takeover of the business operations of Rickmers-Linie and MCC Marine as well as NPC Projects, which was originally announced on February 9 and received cleara

Zeaborn has also acquired the multipurpose ship, Rickmers Hamburg from its previous owners and confirmed that the vessel will operate under the Rickmers-Line brand, adding that after port call in Asia the ships will rejoin the shipping line's Round-The-World Pearl String Service at the end of May 2017.

Rickmers Hamburg was built in 2002 and has four cranes, the two most powerful of which come with a lifting capacity of 320 tonnes each, combinable to 640 tonnes. Adjustable tweendecks optimise stowage of units with varying height. Dehumidifying devices in the ship's holds help ensure that moisture-sensitive cargoes can be handled safely.

In an official statement, Zeaborn says it sees the purchase of Rickmers Hamburg as a clear commitment to the existing Rickmers-Line service concept.
