Abu Dhabi Ports sees strong growth

October 27 - Abu Dhabi Ports says it has handled 11.28 million tonnes of general and bulk cargo during the first three quarters of 2015 - a 19 percent year-on-year increase.

Both July and August 2015 set consecutive records for the highest volume of general and bulk cargo handled at the port group, handling 2.86 million tonnes combined.
 
The announcement was made at the inaugural Breakbulk Middle East 2015 conference and exhibition. Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports, said: "Our strategy to invest in innovative technologies, state-of-the-art infrastructure and customer focused services has paid off.
 
"We are pleased to host the Breakbulk Middle East 2015 for the first time in Abu Dhabi. This is a great opportunity for industry players to learn new trends and developments in logistics and projects sectors," he added.
 
Zayed Port handled the vast majority of steel imported and exported through the emirate. It also posted a 13 percent year-on-year growth in general and bulk cargo volumes during the first nine months of this 2015, compared to the same period in 2014.
