Cargolux/Oman Air add Indian links

August 12 - The partnership between Cargolux Airlines International and Oman Air will launch a second freighter flight to Chennai, coming online on August 11, 2015, with further expansion into India planned for the near future.

"We are pleased to announce that Oman Air and Cargolux will now operate two full freighter flights from Chennai to Muscat," said Mafoodh Al Harthy, chief office sales at Oman Air. "The new service will enable us to strengthen our presence within the Indian market by accessing the industrial belts of south India."

He added that the second service would enhance Oman's position as a global cargo hub, increasing cargo traffic and revenue streams.

Niek van der Weide, executive vice president sales and marketing at Cargolux, added: "India will be a very important market for Cargolux in the future and we will look at further expansion soon with planned addition of Bombay as a second destination."

HLPFI reported that the Oman Air/Cargolux partnership was formally agreed during April 2015.
