ACS flies aid to Philippines

November 12 - Air Charter Service (ACS) has arranged a number of cargo charters to carry essential aid to the typhoon-ravaged Philippines.

Typhoon Haiyan, which swept through six central Philippine islands last week, has claimed around 10,000 victims in the city of Tacloban and left many more homeless and requiring urgent aid.

ACS expects one of the largest relief operations in recent years. The company's group cargo director, Justin Lancaster, commented: "We have already booked almost 500 tonnes of cargo to be flown out, on various aircraft types, and expect a lot more in the coming days."

Lancaster added that ACS will have staff on the scene at Cebu Airport, the main hub requesting aid at the moment, to make sure that the aircraft are offloaded efficiently and relief is delivered to those in need.
