June 22 - The first components for Airbus' new manufacturing facility in Mobile, Alabama have arrived in the USA, having been shipped from Hamburg onboard a BBC Chartering vessel.

HLPFI reported on June 1 that the components had been loaded onboard BBC Fuji in the Port of Hamburg for shipment to Alabama. DHL Industrial Projects is coordinating the entire logistics project.

The five different aircraft components, with a maximum weight of 30 tonnes per section, were transported using special sea transport frames and secured on roll trailers with twist locks.

After arriving at the Port of Mobile and clearing Customs, the aircraft components were then loaded onto heavy-duty trailers with special cranes, which have now been transported to the new Airbus assembly plant in Mobile. The site is Airbus' first ever US-based production facility.
