Baggio delivers topside modules

November 11 - Brazil based Baggio Shipping & Chartering has coordinated the transport of four super heavy lift modules from Thailand to China on board TPI Megaline's heavy transport vessel Mega Caravan.

Baggio was contracted to handle this project by a Brazilian EPC, which was responsible for the construction of various modules that are required for the gas export, CO2 removal, gas injection, oil processing and water treatment operations associated with the P-75 and P-77 floating production, storages and offloading (FPSO) units that are being built for Brazilian oilfield operator Petrobras.

The cargoes, which were delivered to Cosco Shipyard Group in Dalian, included a 645-tonne utilities module, a 1,088-tonne flare system module and two additional module sections weighing 1,644 tonnes and 1,030 tonnes respectively.

The modules were built by BJC Heavy Industries at its facility in Map Ta Phut, Rayong, from where the units were loaded on board the TPI Megaline ship with the use of self propelled modular trailers (SPMTs).

Baggio will coordinate the discharge of the modules in Dalian using the shipyard's 3,000-tonne capacity floating crane. Cosco Shipyard Group will integrate the units onto the hulls of the FPSOs.

Baggio was responsible for managing the naval engineering operations of the project to meet the highest standards set by the customer's marine warranty surveyor, London Offshore Consultants (LOC).

The FPSOs are destined for the Búzios field, which is located approximately 200 km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro in the pre-salt section of the Santos basin. The field is estimated to contain up to 13 billion barrels of oil equivalent. A total of six FPSOs will be delivered to the project.
