June 8 - Bay Crane has added a new 660-tonne capacity Liebherr LR 1600/2 crawler crane to its fleet, as well as seven additional 330-tonne capacity crawlers.

As well as the crane fleet boost, Bay Crane has increased its specialised transportation fleet with the addition of 60 axle lines of Goldhofer hydraulic trailers and a 400-tonne capacity dual lane transportation system.

"Adding this dual lane system significantly enhances our capabilities for the heaviest and tallest and longest loads," said sales and marketing manager, Valerio Colonna. "Offering the lowest axle loads and highest capacity trailer allows us to offer our clients a state of the art and a flexible system for the most demanding and challenging cargo."

The new dual lane system was recently used by Bay Crane to transport a 500,000 lbs (226-tonne) transformer over an 850 ft (259 m) long bridge structure.

Tony Polizzi, manager of projects and heavy hauling at Bay Crane, explained that using traditional platform trailers would not have been possible for this project, and the new system allowed for a more direct and simple route, translating into a faster, cheaper and more efficient transport for the company's client.
