BigLift orders another

June 28 - BigLift Shipping has ordered a third Happy S-type vessel - to be named Happy Sun - from Ouhua Shipbuilding in Zhoushan, China.

The newbuild ship will measure 156 m long with a 29 m deck and a deadweight of 18,374 tonnes. It will feature two 900-tonne capacity Huisman heavy lift cranes.

According to BigLift, the vessel will offer a single, large cargo hold and a wide, open deck area; and will be fitted with pontoon-type hatch covers and a large poop deck. Happy Sun's tween deck will be adjustable in height and it will be allowed to sail with open weather deck hatches at a draught of up to 7.5 m.

Happy Sun is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2018, when it will join sister vessels Happy Sky and Happy Star. The delivery will bring BigLift's fleet of heavy lift ships to 16.
