Cranes double up to handle heavy cargoes through Saint-Petersbur

May 27 - Two companies from the Universal Cargo Logistics Holding group have worked together to handle the shipment of over-dimensional equipment weighing more than 1,100 tonnes in total.

More than 200 items of equipment, including ten semi-modules more than 20 metres in height arrived from Antwerp onboard the Ameland at berth 5 of JSC Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg.

The port company worked with sister company Universal Forwarder on the project, using two cranes with a lifting capacity of 40 tonnes to handle the heaviest equipment which will be moved to Vologda by rail and road, where it will be used for the construction of a waste-heat boiler at the Vologodskaya thermal power plant.

Universal Forwarder arranges handling operations and forwarding of cargoes in sea and river ports of the Russian Federation, the CIS and Europe, performs multimodal and mixed transportation of cargoes, charters sea and river vessels, and also serves as a ship's agent in the Azov-Black Sea Basin.
