October 31 - The US Department of Transportation has approved a USD9.85 million grant for the expansion of the Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor.

As reported here by HLPFI in August, the port applied for one of the country's ten available Fastlane small project grants to aid with its proposed USD19.7 million infrastructure works.

US Secretary of Transportation, Elaine L. Chao, confirmed  the grant had been approved, meaning work can now proceed on the project; infrastructure improvements include the construction of a new cargo terminal and a 7 km (4.4 mile) addition to the port's existing rail netw
