July 30 - Höegh Autoliners' PCTC Höegh Asia made its maiden call at the newly built Horizon Terminal at the Port of Freeport, Texas.

The new facility is owned by Horizon Terminal Services - a subsidiary of Höegh Autoliners Logistics. The terminal has two processing centres - one for the automotive market and a second for the heavy equipment market, offering technical, staging and distribution services through a purpose built facility with heavy lift capability.

Per Folkesson, president of Höegh Autoliners and director of Horizon Terminals said: ''We have been calling in the US Gulf now for a number of years, mainly carrying project and heavy cargoes in to the area. Given the supply chain challenges facing the North American market we saw an opportunity to build a first-of-a-kind multi-user vehicle facility, which will greatly increase efficiency to the Automotive Industry for exports and particularly for inbound flows."

The automotive centre will be run by Amports of Jacksonville; Red Hook Terminals will manage the heavy equipment centre.
