April 25 - The first of two new pure car and truck carriers (PCTC) for United European Car Carriers (UECC) has been launched at the NACKS shipyard in Nantong, China.

The LNG-fuelled PCTC, Auto Eco, will now undertake sea and gas trials, before being delivered to UECC in September 2016.

"It is such a magnificent moment seeing Auto Eco afloat," said UECC ceo Glenn Edvardsen at the launch ceremony. "We have all been looking forward to this day to see her on the water for the first time. I am extremely proud and grateful for the dedication and hard work put in by the entire team to make this happen, especially on schedule."

He added that Auto Eco was one of "the finest and most technically advanced PCTC vessel ever built".

HLPFI reported on January 8 that the keel laying ceremony had taken place for Auto Eco.
