VN Navigacion chooses sea over road for journey from Spain to Scotland

February 12 - Vital equipment for a wind power generating project in Scotland was shipped by coastal shipping from its Spanish manufacturer as a cheaper and easier method than trucking.

At the end of January, the successful shipment was undertaken from Almeria, Spain to Ayr, Scotland by CCPN of 30 foundations from one of the main global turbine manufacturers for the Arecleoch Windfarm project in Scotland. Each foundation measured 32 cu m and weighed 15 tonnes.

VN Navegación SLU organised the shipment, and acted as Spanish agent for CCPN while at the Scottish end CA Mair Shipping acted as the agents.

The voyage took just over a week and there will be further similar voyages later this year.
