October 15 - Following a EUR65 million (USD839.8 million) investment, a second offshore port terminal has been opened in Cuxhaven, Germany.

It features a 736 m berth that can be used to load and unload ships, pontoons and lift platforms, and will also serve as an anchorage for floating cranes and tractors.

A heavy-duty road that connects all the berths in Cuxhaven enables direct barrier-free access to the new quay for heavy lift and out of gauge cargoes.

Andreas Schmidt, ceo of the Port Economic Community, said the expansion of the offshore terminal takes Cuxhaven into a leading position as a base port for offshore wind farms in the North Sea.
