ECL adds Hull to service

Europe Caribbean Line (ECL) made its first call at the port of Hull this month, handling more than 300 tonnes of heavy vehicles and industrial components destined for Guyana, Suriname and Trinidad.

The carrier has adjusted its service to make a regular monthly call at Associated British Ports’ (ABP) port of Hull, as opposed to Ipswich.

Baltic & European Shipping, a part of shipping and liner agent Kestrel Group, is ECL’s representative in the UK. Richard Platts, group head of marine for Kestrel, said: “We believe this move ensures that ECL is better located to serve both existing and potential clients in these expanding Caribbean and South American economies.”

ABP Humber director, Simon Bird, added: “We are pleased to welcome new trade to the Humber as we continue to unlock new trading links to international markets. It is also another example of where ABP’s unique network of 21 ports has been able to accommodate our customers’ changing requirements – in this case, moving from our operation in Ipswich, to our operations on the Humber.”

ECL’s Baltic & European Shipping service schedule is now: Antwerp (Belgium); Hull (UK); Georgetown (Guyana); Point Lisas (Trinidad); Paramaribo (Suriname); Matanzas (Venezuela).
