  • The operation of and investment in low-emission equipment and technology
  • Compliance with – or keeping ahead of – the latest environmental regulations affecting the sector
  • Planning for future changes in environmental policy
  • The development of a thorough understanding of respective environmental concerns, and the training of staff in these challenges
  • Putting environmental concerns at the forefront of activities

About our sponsor

Blue Water Shipping is a global provider of all logistics services in modern supply chain management, offering its clients customised solutions with unique and high quality service.

At the heart of Blue Water is an organisation of skilled professionals who offer complete and tailor-made solutions for any shipping requirement anywhere in the world.

When Blue Water was founded in 1972, the ambition was to create a small, local freight forwarding company, which could provide clients with a better quality service than its competitors.

Today, Blue Water is represented with more than 60 offices worldwide. In every Blue Water office, the company combines its strong global network with local expertise, adding value and providing its clients with services beyond transporting cargo in a safe and efficient way.

Thomas Bek, global director, energy and projects at Blue Water Shipping, commented: "Sponsoring the Environment Award is something that appeals to us greatly. We take our environmental responsibilities very seriously, as does the wider project logistics industry, and we would like to help publicise this and encourage others to raise their game in the future.

"These awards are very welcome as a way to raise the profile of our industry, and the benefits it brings to millions of people all around the globe."

Our 2019 winner

Nicola de Leva, managing director of Grimaldi Belgium, accepted the Environment Award for the initiatives Grimaldi Group has implemented to tackle emissions in the shipping industry.

At the Heavy Lift Awards 2019, this award was presented to Grimaldi Group for the number of environmental initiatives it has implemented to tackle emissions in the shipping industry, including the order of state-of-the-art ships, the development of new eco-friendly ro-ro and ro-pax vessel concepts, and the installation of solar panels and wind turbines at the group’s terminals.

The Heavy Lift Awards 2020 ceremony will take place on October 21 at the Royal Lancaster hotel in London, UK.
