Cadeler has contracted NOV to complete the upgrade of Wind Orca. “The offshore market is moving towards installation of larger next generation wind turbines with capacity ratings exceeding 14 MW, which requires improved crane lifting capacity from the vessels used to install, operate, and maintain offshore wind turbines,” Cadeler explained.

The crane replacement is scheduled to begin in October 2023, with completion slated for March 2024. The crane will have a lifting capacity of 1,600 tonnes at a radius of 40 m. Currently, Wind Orca is able to lift 1,200 tonnes at a radius of 31 m.
