3P Logistics Industrial Projects has discharged a 103.5-tonne transformer, plus accessories, at the port of Klaipeda in Lithuania – setting a company record.
The Siemens transformer arrived at the KKT Terminal from China and was discharged using a 500-tonne capacity Liebherr crane. It was then transported to a Vestas wind farm site in Akmene.
3P Logistics Industrial Projects said it was the heaviest unit of project cargo it has handled in its 20-year history.
“It’s been a long road,” added 3P Logistics Industrial Projects. “Our first touchpoint with the customer was in September 2023. That’s almost two years of planning, permits, road surveys, and coordination… We also made technical conclusions on bridges on the route before and after the trip to make everything safe for Lithuania infrastructure.”
