The TBM had been working on the construction of the Knighton tunnel, one of three bypass tunnels being built by water utility Severn Trent to divert water away from the Victorian Elan Valley aqueduct.

ALS arranged the removal of the TBM sections and placed them into temporary storage while permit applications where approved for the route to Germany.

Removal from the site in Wales was completed in seven days. The shipment included one shield, measuring 5 m x 3.7 m x 3.8 m; a thrust unit, which measured 6.5 m x 3.7 m x 3.9 m; a 13.3 m-long screw conveyor; and 11 gantry sections weighing 15 tonnes each.
