Bolloré Transport & Logistics Madagascar has moved three motors from the eastern port of Tamatave to the region of Majunga in the northwest.
The move formed part of a project to improve the electricity production in the region. Due to the state of the country’s roads and the size of the packages, the teams had to organise two customised shipments.
The largest motor weighed nearly 70 tonnes and measured 4.15 m high and was transported by sea onboard a barge. The equipment had to be lifted and positioned while taking the weight restrictions on the docks and the stability of the barge in open sea into account.
The other two packages were transported by truck from Tamatave to the client’s site. This was a technical route due to weight restrictions, height limitations of bridges and the dilapidated condition of some road segments, said Bolloré.
