Buss Terminal Eemshaven has completed its scope of work for the Thor and Nordseecluster A (NSC A) offshore wind farms, where 325 monopile transports were performed on behalf of RWE.

Buss Terminal Eemshaven had to carry out works for both projects simultaneously, with both wind farms located in the North Sea and jointly owned by RWE and Norges Bank Investment Management.
The Thor offshore wind farm involved 72 monopiles, while the NSC A project involved 45 monopiles, including secondary steel. Each monopile weighed more than 1,500 tonnes and reached lengths of up to 96 m.
All secondary steel was handled using Buss-owned equipment, while storage onsite was facilitated with the help of 12 dune sets and concrete monopile storage blocks. Dutch engineered transport provider Mammoet performed all load-ins and transports using SPMTs from its own fleet and those of Buss Ports, supported by specially engineered hydraulic saddles designed for to ensure safe monopile transport.
Installation at sea was carried out by two vessels: Les Alizés for the Thor project, and Boreas for the NSC A project. A third vessel, the Aeolus installed the secondary steel for the NSC A project.
