Air charter broker Chapman Freeborn has coordinated the delivery of a critical V2500 engine and its mounting bracket from Hong Kong to Miami, USA, helping its client solve a costly aircraft on ground (AOG) situation.

Chapman Freeborn’s team in the Greater China region was contacted by an unnamed international logistics firm after its airline was forced to ground one of its aircraft at Miami International Airport (MIA) due to engine failure, requiring a spare engine to be delivered to the airport. The quickest available replacement was more than 14,000 km away from MIA – in Hong Kong.

Within just a few hours of the initial request, the client was presented with several transport solutions. Yet, the delivery faced additional challenges when the client requested the shipment port to be changed, and tracking devices failed to meet strict airline requirements.

Chapman Freeborn’s team coordinated with partners and rebooked the cargo in time, securing new capacity at a competitive rate despite the added restraints.

Despite the challenges, Chapman Freeborn successfully ensured full compliance with all procedures regarding documentation, packaging, and dangerous goods regulations (DGR).
