Chapman Freeborn’s new office in Zhengzhou, China.

Chapman Freeborn opted for Zhengzhou given its strategic location and proximity to Xinzheng International Airport, which has a strong track record in handling outsized, irregular, and heavy lift cargo. The office is also near to Zhengzhou East Railway Station.

Having recently joined Chapman Freeborn as manager for Central Greater China, the Zhengzhou office will be led by Huizi Zhao (Bella Zhao).

Meanwhile, the air charter broker was involved with the delivery of two oversized truck-loading skids for Accra, Ghana-based Tropicana Airlines. Measuring 870 cm x 210 cm x 225 cm apiece and weighing approximately five tonnes each, the delivery was split into two.

Both shipments from China to Belgium were flown by a nose-loading Boeing 747-400F

Both units were flown by a nose-loading Boeing 747-400F from Zhangjiagang, China, to Liège Airport (LGG) in Belgium, before Chapman Freeborn’s UK team handled the onward transfer and airfreight to Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

“We were able to meet the Tropicana Airlines’ needs in terms of secure packaging of the cargo and the tight deadlines they were working to,” explained Jason de Beer, cargo charter broker at Chapman Freeborn, who added that, “by splitting the cargo into two separate stages we avoided using a single charter, resulting in significant savings for the client.”

Last month, Chapman Freeborn appointed Saska Gerasimova as ceo, taking over from Eric Erbacher.
