UK-based heavy haulage expert Collett & Sons has delivered the second and final 215-tonne supergrid transformer to the Kintore substation in Scotland.

The transformer departed the General Electric (GE) facility in Stafford and was moved to Ellesmere port on a 250-tonne capacity Goldhofer girder bridge trailer.

After arriving at the port, the transformer was loaded onto a coaster vessel and shipped to the port of Aberdeen.

The company said the cargo was then loaded back onto the girder bridge trailer using a 600-tonne strut crane and transported to the substation.

Once on site, the transformer was offloaded and manoeuvred into its final position using Collett’s hydraulic jacking and skidding system.
