To offload the unit from its transport and onto storage stands, Engineered Rigging utilised an Enerpac SBL500 hydraulic gantry system, equipped with SSU300 hydraulic side shift units.

Using the gantry’s Intelli-Lift wireless control system, the scrubber was lifted from a specialised transport system and lowered onto static storage stands.

Echeverria Izquierdo Montajes Industriales then needed to move the scrubber from the stands to the installation site inside the refinery. For this, Engineered Rigging deployed the Enerpac SBL500 gantry again to hoist the scrubber from its storage unit and onto two six-axle Goldhofer SPMTs, provided by the company’s South American partner, Tecnogruas.

The gantry was then repositioned next to a crane that would place the scrubber into its final position.

“The ENAP Aconcagua Refinery is a critical component of the Valparaíso region’s fuel infrastructure,” said Arnol Salicetti M., Engineered Rigging’s director of South America equipment rentals and sales. “Engineered Rigging’s safe and efficient transport of the scrubber helped the refinery keep fuel flowing as it processed up to 104,000 barrels per day of crude oil.”
