Collett & Sons has delivered a 68-tonne transformer from a manufacturing facility in Ljubljana, Slovenia, to a substation in Tilbury, UK.

Measuring 6.98 m x 2.4 m x 3.82 m, the transformer was moved on behalf of Kolektor. Collett was also responsible for delivering ancillary equipment.

The transformer was initially moved to the UK via the port of Vlaardingen. The unit and ancillary equipment were then transported to Collett’s Goole heavy lift terminal for storage and handling, ahead of onwards delivery to the substation.

Once in Tilbury, Collett utilised its hydraulic jacking and skidding equipment to manoeuvre the transformer into position.

With installation of the main unit completed, Collett then deployed a 55-tonne capacity mobile crane, supplied under a CPA Contract Lift basis, to offload and install the remaining ancillary items.
