Höegh Autoliners has transported two large ship propellers from Kobe in Japan to Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Höegh delivered the out-of-gauge cargoes on behalf of freight forwarder Martin Bencher. The 33-tonne propellers measured 6.9 m in diameter, which was considerably wider than the 2.6 m-wide rolltrailers they were transported on.

However, Einar Bassøe, head of global cargo planning operations, said that after careful calculations a stuffing and lashing plan was prepared, taking into account the stress and weight distribution.

The propellers were then rolled on board Höegh Sydney, ready for its ocean journey to Europe.

Höegh added that by deploying rolltrailer equipment to handle the cargoes, the risk of damage was reduced as no high lifting was involved.
