Heavy transport specialist Roll Group has executed a multi-shipment logistics operation in Oman.
The project involved the transportation of 25 items across four shipments and included absorbers, columns and process skids that had a total weight of 3,383.7 tonnes. The heaviest item weighed 550 tonnes, while the largest module measured 101.3 m x 7.3 m x 7.45 m.
Roll Group was tasked with receiving and offloading the cargoes in preparation for inland transport. It began operations at night, navigating roundabouts and highways to the project site. Throughout the project, Roll Group said that it adhered to international safety standards while ensuring safe and timely delivery.
The transportation specialist called on 90 SPMT axle lines along with four power pack units (PPUs) to perform the job, working in collaboration with Royal Oman Police (ROP) throughout the project. The cargoes will be used at United Solar Polysilicon in Sohar Free Zone.
Last month, Roll Group performed one of the largest trailer load-outs ever completed in Africa – in Angola.
