The Northern Lights development is part of the Norwegian government’s Longship project, which aims to capture CO2 from industrial sources and ship it in liquid form to a subsea location in the North Sea for permanent storage.

In Kollsnes, Sarens deployed 24 axles of K24ST SPMTs and two power pack units to handle the tanks. The equipment arrived at the location in mid-November and will remain onsite through until mid-April.

For the operations, the SPMTs transported each tank – measuring 35 m long and weighing 230 tonnes – from the quayside to a storage area 600 m away.
