The cargo, which included heavy components weighing around 194 tonnes and 145 tonnes, was transported using Swire Projects’ multipurpose vessel Pacific Endeavour – a 12,800 dwt unit equipped with two 120-tonne capacity cranes.

The shipment was destined for the refinery development master plan (RDMP) in Balikpapan, a strategic national refinery enhancement project designed to bolster energy resilience and self-sufficiency.

The Indonesian government is boosting its refining capabilities at five exiting sites under its RDMP. Back in 2022, the works at Balikpapan saw freight forwarder DSV deliver a 950-tonne oil distilling component from Malaysia on behalf of Hyundai Engineering.
