Finland’s Hacklin Logistics and Sweden-based Begoma Spedition teamed up to deliver a 143.5-tonne Yankee cylinder from Sweden to Brazil.
The cylinder, which measured 8.97 m x 5.62 m x 5.72 m, was shipped on a coaster vessel from Karlstad port (Lake Vänern) in Sweden to Hamburg, Germany; Begoma handled the supervision in Sweden on behalf of Hacklin. A BBC Chartering multipurpose ship was then part chartered to deliver the unit to Portocel in Brazil.
Alongside the Yankee cylinder, 160 containers from various origins were also delivered to the site.
Among the challenges were a lack of pilots and congestion on Vänern Lake. Moreover, in Brazil, heavy congestion at Vitoria and Customs strikes caused a delay at the port of destination.
